South Africa’s healthcare consist of two separate systems; the private system and the public system. The vast majority of the population is served by the public healthcare while this sector receives only 45% of the budget.
You can imagine that the low amount of health professionals per 1000 citizens ensures a crowded public healthcare sector.
Medflow provides a public service which serves as an entrance level to the local primary healthcare. It is a platform that will serve as the link between the patients and the public health clinics. It aims at solving problems regarding waiting queues, poor healthcare accessibility, medication in-adherence and administrative burdens. for healthcare professionals.
Medflow is a project that was part of the #CoCreateMyCity-challenge that was held in Johannesburg, South-Africa. during the House of the Future (2015). The team consisted of 3 South-African and 3 Dutch students.
